Art has played a part in my life ever since
I was a very small child. Both of my parents are artists,
so a sense of aesthetics has always been present in my surroundings.
Art supplies were always made available to me, and as a child,
I spent countless hours filling memo pads with fantastic visual
stories.
In recent years, I have been attempting to recapture the unbridled imagination of my youth, becoming re-inspired by the iconic creatures and themes of the stories in those memo pads. There is often an undercurrent of darkness in my images, which may be perceived as a cynicism borne of adulthood; however, there are many dark themes in my childhood art as well. I believe that expression of life experience is ageless.
I fluctuate between several mediums. I use acrylic paint for
most of my larger works. Watercolor is my medium of choice
for smaller pieces and also for more technical work that I
do to keep my skills honed. Fabric is another form of expression,
and although I do make traditional quilts, I am experimenting
more with using fabric as a means of expressing my main creative
message. I also draw, make prints, take photographs, and write.
